Supporting WIDA Standards in Math: Two Models for Meaningful Discourse

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Enhanced Number Talks (ENTs) and Visual, Interactive Math Stories (VIMS) develop conceptual understanding and language through facilitated interaction. ENTs elicit students' voices, making ideas visible through a discourse routine. VIMS elicit students' background knowledge, building a story around a math model. Both routines build students’ capacities to explain their thinking.
